Cllr Keith Warnell has been elected Mayor of Bishop's Stortford for the Civic Year 2021-2022. The Deputy Mayor is Councillor Dave Anderson.

The Mayor is elected each year at the Statutory Annual Meeting of the Council, which is held in May. 
The position of Mayor is ceremonial and the holder of the position is also Chairman of the Council.
The Mayor organises many events throughout the year in aid of his or her charity and attends many other events organised by a variety of organisations.

Keith Warnell has lived in Bishops Stortford for 34 years, with 22 of those as a Councillor for South Ward, so is very aware of the challenges we face and the and great advantages that our town offers. He is a Trustee of SouthMill Arts and Isabel Hospice.
Keith is married to Lynda, with two children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren, all of whom live in our town. 

His focus now that Covid and lockdowns seem to be on the wane, will be in supporting and promoting local business and local community groups. Keith is very keen to visit and promote community and business.
Outside of Council responsibilities is Keith active in Motorsport and a keen, but poor golfer (his words!).
His charity fundraising focus this term will be for the:

  • Visually Impaired Club who provide meetings, activities and support for partially sighted and blind members of our community
  • First Responders who are a voluntary organisation have people locally who respond to medical emergencies, frequently arriving before emergency services and save residents lives
  • Isabel Hospice who provide such a valuable service for seriously ill people in their latter days as well as significant outreach work in our community.
