Neighbourhood Plan - Referendum

The referendum for Bishop's Stortford Silverleys and Meads Neighbourhood Plan was held on 19th March 2015 and the result was a YES.  The policies will now apply to planning applications in the two Wards.

The plan was created by Bishop's Stortford people for Stortford people, and is supported by the Residents' Associations in the area, Bishop's Stortford Civic Federation and the Chamber of Commerce.  Some developers are against the plan.

 

Bishop's Stortford History

The town of Bishop's Stortford took its origin from, and has grown up around, the ford over the river, which is now known as the Stort. Archaeological evidence shows that the Romans had several roads across the area, at least one of which crossed the river in the vicinity of what are now known as the Town Meads.

Rhodes Arts Complex & Bishop's Stortford Museum

A contemporary venue for the arts and the home of the Bishop’s Stortford Museum and Thorleybourne Gallery. The Complex provides a varied programme of arts events and hosts professional touring productions, dance groups, musicians and comedians.
