AN EXCLUSIVE EVENING WITH RAY CLEMENCE IN BISHOP’S STORTFORD.A very rare opportunity to meet goalkeeping legend Ray Clemence!
Ray Clemence MBE spent a long and illustrious career playing for some of the most reputable teams in British football and is one of only 25 players to have made over 1,000 career appearances.
Ray made his debut for Scunthorpe United in 1966 and made 48 appearances in what was then called Division 3 before he was signed by Liverpool FC manager Bill Shankly. Ray went on to enjoy a truly prolific career at Liverpool Football Club. Ray’s time in goal at Anfield where he was an indispensable member of the team yielded a monumental 18 trophies, this included 5 Football League Division One titles, three European Cup titles and two UEFA Cup trophies to name a few.  It has since been said that “Ray Clemence is without doubt the greatest goalkeeper ever to play for Liverpool” by the Liverpool FC official website.
Ray left Liverpool to join Tottenham Hotspur in 1981 for a fee of £300,000. During his time at Spurs, Ray was a crucial part of the team that won the FA Cup, FA Charity Shield and the UEFA Cup before finally retiring after snapping his Achilles tendon and joining the coaching team. Alongside a truly distinguished domestic career, Ray was a regular figure for England between 1972 and 1983, Ray made his debut first in the 1–0 World Cup qualifier win over Wales, his first clean sheet in International Football. Ray was part of the squad which qualified for Euro 1980, the teams failure to qualify for two World Cup campaigns and a number of injuries forced Ray into retirement from international football shortly afterwards with a total of 61 caps for England in a 12-year international career.
To host the event is Micky Hazard who made over 100 appearances for Spurs and was a member of the Tottenham team that won the 1982 FA Cup and UEFA Cup in 1984.
