Don’t miss out on the opportunity to tick off your Christmas shopping list, from fashion accessories, homeware, to something for your furry friend! Hungry shoppers can keep the cold at bay with many warming delights from our hot food stalls, whilst also enjoying a festive beverage between stall shopping.
Throughout the town centre there will be an amazing array of entertainment for the whole family. Enjoy live music at three different music venues, featuring over twenty musical acts. For children there will be a Christmas themed puppet show, but watch out for the mischievous elf and the towering ice queen! Santa will be waiting in his Grotto with special gifts for those children who have been very good. Prancer and Dasher will be making a special trip from the North Pole, and will be with us from noon! Be amazed at the spectacular finale fire show that concludes the event, you won’t be disappointed.
Whilst you’re visiting the Fayre, why not pop into other exciting events taking place in the town centre, including; St Michael’s Church Holly Fair, Bishop’s Stortford Community Church’s Crafty Christmas, Methodist Church's Christmas Craft Fair, and Grove Cottage’s Santa Dash and Reindeer Run! Don’t forget Bishop’s Stortford has a variety of independent and chain shops, offering an eclectic mix of bakeries, clothes stores, jewellers, gift shops and much more. There are several places to eat and drink, catering for everyone!
Windhill21 and St Michael’s Schools, located only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre, have parking available for Christmas Fayre visitors. A small fee for the schools will be requested.
The Fayre is a major event throughout the Town Centre which several thousand people are expected to attend and it would not be possible without road closures.
Road closures will be in force on 7 December from 06.00 to 19.00 on North Street, Potter Street, South Street up to the junction with Station Road, High Street up to Basbow Lane and Market Square with access only available to pedestrians. Ingress and egress will therefore be limited to pedestrians and emergency vehicles only. Apton Road will be available to vehicles for access only.
During the same period the ‘One Way’ system will be suspended on certain roads, allowing for vehicles to drive in both directions. This will apply to Church Street, Water Lane and Barrett Lane.
Also during the same period Church Street, Apton Road, Newtown Road, Water Lane and Barrett Lane will have a weight restriction of 7.5 tons.
Diversions will be in effect to divert traffic around the closed area.
Unfortunately any road closure almost inevitably causes some inconvenience to a minority of people. We do, of course, endeavour to minimise both the level of inconvenience and the number of people affected, but it is not always possible to eliminate it completely.
Timings for the event are as follows:
• Road closures, restrictions and diversions: 06.00 – 19.00
