Join us at this year’s annual Christmas Fayre on 4 December from 9.30am until 4.30pm, in North Street, Market Square, Potter Street, and South Street, all of which will be pedestrianised.

Covid restrictions see the Fayre reduced in size a little*, but you can still expect over 100 stalls which complement the regular traders from our Thursday and Saturday Market as well as the monthly Farmer’s and Craft Market. You will be able to explore an exciting array of unique handmade gifts stalls, selling jewellery, candles, health and beauty products, and much more. You will be tempted by delicious locally made jams, chutney, cakes, and fudges. Make sure you visit our speciality Christmas stalls offering festive items and gifts, food, and drinks. Hungry shoppers can keep the cold at bay with many warming delights from our hot food stalls, whilst also enjoying a festive beverage between stall shopping. 

Throughout the town centre there will be a variety of entertainment for the whole family. Enjoy live music at three different stages, featuring over twenty music acts and plenty of entertainment for children. Santa will also be popping by to say Happy Christmas! Everyone will be getting into the Christmas spirit, as there will be many festive events taking place in the town centre. So check back to see what else is on.  Bishop’s Stortford’s eclectic range of independent and chain retailers will also be spreading yuletide joy. Don’t forget to visit your local high street shops, restaurants and bars whilst attending the Fayre.

*Bishop’s Stortford Town Council is closely monitoring the implications of the Coronavirus (Covid 19) on events and will be paying attention to the Government guidelines and legislation/regulation. Currently our intention is to hold our annual Christmas Fayre in December 2021, however this will be subject to government guidelines/legislation at the time of our event which may result in the event being restricted, re-sited or altered to accommodate the guidelines.   Should the Government impose guidelines which render the event inoperable or force closure we reserve the right to cancel the event and in this case we will refund in full fees paid by stallholders. Refunds will be issued within six weeks of notification of the cancellation.

Trader Application

Applications are now open for the Bishop’s Stortford Christmas Fayre taking place on Saturday 4th December 2021 from 9.30am - 4.30pm on North Street, Potter Street, Market Square and South Street. The Fayre incorporates the regular weekly Saturday Market and the Farmers and Craft Market, as well as specialised festive stalls.

Bishop’s Stortford Town Council is closely monitoring the implications of the Coronavirus (Covid 19) on events and will be paying attention to the Government guidelines and legislation/regulation. Should the Government impose guidelines which render the event inoperable or force closure we reserve the right to cancel the event and in this case we will refund in full fees paid by stallholders.

Traders will be asked to ensure that they are aware of, and are operating in line with the most current Coronavirus guidance, good practice, legislation and regulations issued by the Government, the local authority, and specialist bodies/ specialist sector bodies. Bishop’s Stortford Town Council may implement Coronavirus measures at the Fayre. Traders are responsible for ensuring their business operates in line with these measures. This will mean that licensees are required to operate in a Covid safe way by implementing mitigating practical measures to reduce transmission risk and increase safety. This could include reducing touch points, creating more space within the trading area (pitch), avoiding direct contact with others, additional sanitization and cleaning schedules.

There are over 55 3x3m pitches available for sale Bishop’s Stortford Town Council operates on a first come first served basis; however your application will not join the queue to be processed unless the form is correctly completed and all the requested valid documentation is submitted. You will be notified if your application has been either be accepted or rejected together with next steps for payment. Until you have received a notification and acknowledgement from us please do not assume that your application has been accepted. Once the form is correctly completed, all the requested valid documentation is submitted and checked, an acceptance email has been sent to you and full payment is received your booking with us will be confirmed.

Application entry will close at midnight on 1 November 2021 or when we no longer have any pitches for sale whichever is the sooner. We may operate a waiting list; email market@bishopsstortfordtc.gov.uk even if the event is full of your interest to trade.

To complete the application you will need to carry out the following steps:

GDPR: When applying for the Christmas Fayre Bishop’s Stortford Town Council will only use your data for the purposes of processing your application and if successful, in connection with the license. Your information will not be sold or shared commercially. The information on your application may be shared with East Hertfordshire District Council, who subsidise the market. Your information may also be shared with other agencies or authorities for the purposes of the prevention and detection of fraud, where an appropriate request has been made under the Data Protection Act. During the course of processing or storage, information may reside or pass through electronic systems outside the EU. Currently the Town Council may hold your e-mail address, street address and telephone number and other information you may have supplied in connection with your application.  Your details may be held for up to eight years but we reserve the right to destroy them earlier should we consider this appropriate or immediately upon specific request.  We do not process data outside the EU, but please note that this data may reside or pass outside the EU in the course of transmission (e.g. via email).
