Local Charities for Local People

The Gilfrere Fund is a local charity formed in 1951 from assets of The Bishop's Stortford and Thorley District Nurse Association.

The Henry Charles Cook Bequest is administered as a subsidiary charity of The Gilfrere Fund. It has been established to benefit the sick and needy old people of Bishop's Stortford. These Charities provide help for persons resident in the parishes of Bishop's Stortford and Thorley.

Limited funds are available for the purposes of:

• Relieving cases of need in persons who are sick, convalescent, disabled, handicapped or infirm
  
  
• Assisting other resident persons who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress by making grants of money, or providing, or paying for items or services of facilities, which will alleviate such suffering, but which are not otherwise available.
